Create abstract, textured artwork inspired by Lauren’s contemporary painting style.

In this one-day workshop, La will guide you through the process of turning an image, concept  into a beautiful abstracted artwork designed to sit in a home or styled space.

Abstract art can be one of the harder forms to unlock without guidance. Strong abstracted work is held together by composition, tone, colour and texture. Through practical art theory, guided demonstrations and one-on-one support, you’ll learn how to simplify a reference, build a strong composition, create powerful colour relationships and develop a painting with feeling and depth.

You’ll leave with a larger-scale (30 X 36 inch) painting on gallery grade canvas ready to hang — a finished artwork that is your own expression, built on great technique and art theory principles.

Students will be guided through key creative and technical principles, including:

• How to choose and simplify a visual reference, concept or feeling
• How to abstract an image without losing structure or intention
• Composition principles for creating balance, movement and visual interest
• Tone and value as the foundation for a strong painting
• Help with colour choices that are expressive and interior-friendly
• How to build texture and layered paint surfaces with Acrylic paint, mediums and other tools
• How to edit a painting so it feels resolved, not overworked
• How to create artwork that holds its own visually while still feeling liveable in a home or designed space

Terms & Conditions of Workshop Bookings: 

If you are unable to attend your workshop the following refund policy applies:

• More than 7 days notice: A full refund will be provided (less $20 booking fee)

• Between 7 and 4 days notice: A refund of 75% will be provided.

• Less than 4 days notice: A refund of 50% will be provided.

We are unable to offer credits for future workshops.

Our workshops require a minimum booking of 10 students - in the case of cancellation you will be given 3 days notice and a full refund.
