Discover the beauty of portraiture with Graphite Portraiture Workshop. Our experienced Art School Co teachers will guide you through the essential portraiture techniques, including how to draw a face, perspective, tone, and how we can get the essence of a person. We will teach you our tried & true method for finding perspective, the KISS method. As well as teaching you a few extra tips and tricks that are portraiture specific. Learn to use graphite to express yourself and create high quality, life like portraits. 

The first part of the day will be spent on foundational skills for portraiture & exercises that help you understand the teaching. We will then move on to applying these skills to a portrait for the remainder of the day. Students will finish the workshop having done several warm up exercises/studies & will finish with an A4 piece.

What you will learn in this workshop: 

• How to use graphite drawing materials
• How to correctly find perspective in drawing 
• Tone/Value ranges to create 3dness in a face
• Different kinds of mark making/use of drawing supplies to create different effects
• How to create realism in a drawing 
• How to find the planes of the face to help find your drawing
• Where to start with a portrait (what is most essential)
• How to find likeness vs gesture 

We will break for lunch during this workshop so feel free to BYO lunch.
