Have you always been romanced by oil painting, but feel overwhelmed with the technicalities of starting & learning them? With years of experience teaching oil painting classes, our teachers are excellent at breaking down oil painting into a wonderful & approachable paint medium. This workshop is suited to those who have dabbled in oil painting before and want to gain more technique, as well as those who are complete beginners who have never picked up a paint brush.

Our teachers will take you through the basics of how oil paint layers and works, colour mixing techniques, we’ll talk about brushes, paints and surfaces and how to approach decision making in your work. You’ll have the choice of creating a painting from a photograph or doing a painting of an already painted work (master copy). After the 2 days you will leave with a small oil painting & an abundance of oil painting knowledge.

This Workshop will cover: 

• The fundamentals of oil painting 
• How to use oil mediums 
• How to know what brushes to use 
• How to begin a painting 
• How to create a focal point in your painting 
• How to layer wet into wet paint (alla prima painting) 
• How to prep your surface for painting
• Colour Mixing 
• Understanding Temperature & Tone in paintings
• A method for drawing up your paintings in correct perspective 

Terms & Conditions of Workshop Bookings: 

If you are unable to attend your workshop the following refund policy applies:

• More than 7 days notice: A full refund will be provided (less $20 booking fee)

• Between 7 and 4 days notice: A refund of 75% will be provided.

• Less than 4 days notice: A refund of 50% will be provided.

We are unable to offer credits for future workshops.

Our workshops require a minimum booking of 10 students - in the case of cancellation you will be given 3 days notice and a full refund.
